Using Your Inkjet Printer To Print Invitations
Posted by on
Do you have a special occasion coming up? If you want to save some money and time, you can print your event invitations right from your home computer making them a truly unique creation! If you have an inkjet printer and high quality paper, you can print invitations at home that will be as elegant as those you’d purchase from a commercial printer. Consider buying paper and your envelopes in bulk, especially if you will be hosting more than one event, as another way to save money.
If printing a high quality item at home is not something you have ever done before and if you’re not quite sure how it will work, you can test it on a few pieces of paper (you can usually buy a sheet or two from an office supply store). You will want to print on high quality, heavy weight paper and use an inkjet printer as these devices do an amazing job of printing crisp photos, clear text and clean copy.
Creating your own invitations allows you to let your creative side shine through and is also a way to create a keepsake for your guests. When they see the invitation in the mail and the “watermark” you’ve put on the back that says, “Designed by XYZ” they will know the time and effort you’ve put into the event to which they are invited.
Chances are your home computer is equipped with a document program and one that offers graphics and various fonts that you can use to embellish your invitations. If you’re printing invitations for a celebration or an anniversary you can include a photo that you’ve previously taken to highlight the event (think wedding anniversaries or baby announcements).
Make sure that once you’ve designed your invitations that you print a test page on plain paper to make certain everything looks as good as you’re hoping it will be. Be certain to have enough compatible printer ink on hand so you can print your documents without interruption. Once you’re going to begin printing your actual invitations, make sure the printer settings have been modified to accept the heavier stock paper you’re sure to be using.
Don’t forget to save one or two of the invitations you’ve made to add to your scrapbook or portfolio or as inspiration for your next printing project!
