Fashion Unique Paper Dolls From Your Home Printer

Posted by on

Little girls have loved paper dolls for generations. They may be a simple “toy” but they are designed for hours of creative play and are certainly much more engaging than sitting in front of a computer screen! If you have children in your house that might enjoy their own, uniquely designed paper dolls, you can make them using your own home printer.

To make paper dolls for this project you will want to purchase inkjet-friendly magnetic sheets (you can purchase these at office supply stores and many craft shops). Using magnetic sheets mean that not only will your children be able to play with the dolls, but they can then be displayed on the refrigerator!

If you’d like, you can add photos of your children or even your pets to help personalize the paper dolls. If you want, you could even make the dolls in such a way that your children could put their own unique stamp on them by allowing them to color in the dolls. After the dolls have been made and decorated, you may want to consider laminating them so they have staying power.

Templates for the dolls, in various sizes, and for animal shapes and even houses and other accessories the children can play with can be found online. When you’re looking for paper doll templates you can simply type “free paper doll templates” into a search engine and it will likely return many options. If you have photo editing software on your computer you can make the dolls larger or smaller and you can also use the photo editing software to place photos of your children or pets onto the templates.

After the dolls have been laid out in your photo editing program you can save them and then print them onto the magnetic sheets. It may make sense to print a test sheet so you’re certain you have the paper orientation correct. Once the dolls are printed onto the sheets, cut them out, allow the children to color them, then apply the laminating film to both the front and back of the images.

You will also want to make sure you print clothing for the dolls so the children can dress them up for the various escapades the dolls are certain to get into!

An inkjet printer is best suited to this task as it prints onto various types of paper and materials and prints fine, clear lines and that is ideal for your child’s paper doll collection! Be sure to have an adequate supply of compatible ink cartridges to ensure that your project is uninterrupted!Your kids will enjoy hours of fun playing with these hand-made paper dolls!
